i have a Asus P5S-VM mobo and i want to upgrade my Intel Celeron D to an Intel Pentium 4 but im having trouble understanding what bios version i have.

ive looked for the motherboard revision number which is 1.02 but dont know which version that means 1020 or the earlier 1002 version. the cpus ive identified work only with the 1007+ version. i want to install the new cpu without having to update the bios

    any help is much appreciated

Try entering your BIOS(tapping delete or some other "setup" or "bios" button on startup), and check the version there.
