It sounds like the associations have been changed. Try at least getting Windows 10 default associations and see if that helps: https://winaero.com/reset-file-associations-windows-10/

Otherwise, it may be quicker to reinstall Windows as who knows what you have downloaded through BitTorrent that could have caused this issue.

Beyond that -- Stay away from BitTorrent and all other file share programs! You are just asking for trouble!

Malware can cause many issues. You may not know you have downloaded it as there are a lot of files out there that are laced with it. For example, it may look like you downloaded a cracked version of say FIFA 21 but the modified file may have the malware inside of it.

Signature based AV's can only detect what the vendor has encountered before, and have written the signatures. If your malware is new, nothing will detect them. And as for behavioral detection, an AV can only use this method at 1st run if it was running at that time; after it has embedded itself in the system and installed additional malware, the AV relies mostly on signatures only. As you are doing scans after the infection, the AV is using signatures.

My advise, post a thread in the Malware Removal Forum and see if our specialist can detect the indication of compromise. Maybe they have special tools to remove the particular infection. They keep up to date on the latest malware trends.

Please post only in your original thread Yadeesh. Forum flooding (as you are currently doing) can and will result in a ban.

thanks,
