Black screen; then shuts itself off

My battery died a while back and it is expensive to replace on this older laptop, around 2011. I have been using the power cord for a while.

Recently, the screen will go black, then after 30 to 45 seconds it will shut down. Not sure what to do.

Just before this started to happen there was this in my emails:

smart_tag.js. from mono.viso.com

With help from here, I think I got rid of it.

Being scared I am going to loose everything I tried to put everything in the clouds, idrive.com as suggested from someone on here. I thought it was uploaded. I checked and it only completed 3%.

Thx, Sonya

What's the model name and complete model number of that HP/Compaq laptop?
What's the exact part/product number(P/N) on it?
Do you have a factory restore/system recovery disc kit for it?

Depending on how much personal data(videos, music, photos, documents, etc.) you have that needs saving, you should copy it to a USB external hard drive or burn it to CD's/DVD's.
If Windows 7 crashes or if the laptop's hard drive dies, you'll probably lose it all.
