reinstalling XP bc of the blaster virus but I can't can't reinstall XP bc after booting from the CD, when I get to the blue screen and all the drivers and stuff are loading at the bottom of the screen and then I get to the menu screen where it asks you if you want to install windows, repair it ect, my Gateway laptop turns off suddenly. It only turns off when I get to that screen and I can't do anything once I get there, bc it turns off too fast. Don't know what to do; thinking about getting a new hard drive. Please help, this is horrible.

This sounds more like a hardware problem, since nothing associated with the worm should be present in that configuration.

Can you boot normally and run setup from the CD? That is run msconfig uncheck the Startup group and restart and run setup from the CD
