Blinking yellow triangle in my systray

In my systray there is a blinking poping yellow triangle with an exclamation point in it with a baloon coming out of it saying "System Alert:Malware Your computer is infected with a back door Trojan that allows the remote attacker to perform various malicious actions. Click this baloon to download malware removal software. ". I have scanned my comuter wth anti-virus and anti-spyware programs to remove the yellow triangle but it's still there. How can I get rid of it?

Click here to download HJTsetup.exe: http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/files/HJTSetup.exe
Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.

Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Addition Tasks dialogue.
Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
Click Save to save the log file and then the log will open in notepad.
Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

It will possibly show other issues deserving our attention, but most of what it lists will be harmless or even required, so do NOT fix anything yet.
Someone here will be happy to help you analyze the results.

;)

You have quite a lot of crapware in there  and you must remove one of your antivirus programs, two is not better than one, they will conflict with one another and lower their effectivness.

This is what I need you to do to remove the main infection.

Please download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri) to your Desktop but dont do anything with it yet!.

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
This program is for XP and Windows 2000 only

  • Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
    Under Main choose: Select All
    Click the Empty Selected button.
If you use Firefox browser
  • Click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
    Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
If you use Opera browser

Hi, {Just to help out with your question about this> }

Munchie5101 said:
When I clicked contol panel >internet options>programs tab there is no button to reset web settings. Also my desktop and screensavers from Webshots is not there anymore. How do I get them back?
In IE 7.0, the settings for that are under the Advanced tab in Internet Options.

Also> Those helping you probably don't want you to re-enable Webshots just yet- it's easy enough to do, just be patient.
It's only turned off, not removed from the computer.

THe AVG free antivirus is very good, you will need to completely remove Norton 1st.
You also need to uninstall "WeatherBug" in Add/Rem Programs.
Log is much better than it was

"Fix" these entries in HijackThis:
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Weather] C:\Program Files\AWS\WeatherBug\Weather.exe 1
O8 - Extra context menu item: &Search - http://edits.mywebsearch.com/toolbar...rch.jhtml?p=ZN
O9 - Extra button: WeatherBug - {AF6CABAB-61F9-4f12-A198-B7D41EF1CB52} - C:\PROGRA~1\AWS\WEATHE~1\Weather.exe (file missing) (HKCU)
O16 - DPF: {2B96D5CC-C5B5-49A5-A69D-CC0A30F9028C} - http://wdownload.weatherbug.com/mini...ansporter.cab?
O18 - Filter: text/html - {2AB289AE-4B90-4281-B2AE-1F4BB034B647} - (no file)

This is a MUST DO!!
Update your Java here:http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp

How are things running?
