I found out how to block emails in outlook express. The only problem is is that I still have to sit and wait for the blocked messages to download into the deleted items folder. Is there a way to completely have it so that the message isnt downloaded either? Thanx.

Yes, you can create a message rule.

Tools -> Message Rules -> Mail

eg.

1. Where the From line contains people

2. Do not download it from the server

3. Type in the sender's name or e-mail address (in: Rule Description)

4. Give the rule an appropriate name

The only problem here is that your server will eventually get full with all the blocked messages, and this will cause your e-mail downloads to slow down.

To overcome this, create a new secondary rule with the same parameters for step 1 & 3, but in step 2 checkmark "delete from server" instead.

Note: You can type in as many names/e-mail addresses in step 3 as required.

I think I will change the second step. You can select an option called Delete it from Server.

If that itself doesn't work, make two rules. One as The_Egg suggested and the other one as I suggested. Both rules while working in tandum will actually stop downloading and also delete the mail from server.

Hope this works.

Umm, read my post again. I already mentioned this . . . one rule for "do not download from server", and another rule for "delete from server" ;)

Oops!! I missed out on that!! You are right. You have pretty much given the complete solution. May be I was in a hurry. That is what happens when someone uses a dial-up connection 'coz we have to think about the ISP costs as well the phone bills :( ;)

marcg's profile says that he posts once every alternate days. So, he is not a very regular visitor to this Forum. Lets wait for his response to these possible solutions.
