I am running WinXP SP2 on 3 computers: a Dell9100, an IBM T40 and a Dell Optiplex. Automatic WinXP updates is turned on for all three. All 3 have recently developed the same problem. In particular, when they are shut down, the shut down process seems to hang just before the monitor would "go dark". Thus that "other" blue screen persists until the computer is manually turned off. This occurs about 50% of the time on any machine. Since all are set up for automatic updates and the problem started on all machines within a day or so, I suspect that a recent update to WinXP is the problem.

    Any help would be appreciated.
