    if anyone can help please:
everytime that i want to restart or shutdown the computer a blue screen appears before restarting again, so i changed the properties on my computer: my compter>advanced>startup and recovery>automaticaly restart(uncheked)
so i restarted again and this is what the blue screen sais:
A PROBLEM HAS BEEN DETECTED AND WINDOWS HAS BEEN SHUT DOWN TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO YOUR COMPUTER.
    IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
IF THIS IS THE FIRST TIME YOU'VE SEEN THIS ERROR SCREEN, RESTART YOUR COMPUTER. IF THIS SCREEN APPEARS AGAIN, FOLLOW THESE STEPS:
CHECK TO MAKE SURE ANY HARDWARE OR SOFTWARE IS PROPERLY INTALLED. IF THIS IS A NEW INSTALLATION, ASK YOUR HARDWARE OR SOFTWARE MANAGER FOR WINDOWS UPDATES YOU MIGHT NEED.
IF PROBLEMS CONTINUE REMOVE OR DISABLE ANY NEWLY INSTALLED HARDWARE OR SOFTWARE. DISABLE BIOS MEMORY OPTION SUCH AS CACHING AND SHADOWING. IF YOU NEED TO USE SAFE MODE TO REMOVE OR DISABLE COMPONENTS, RESTART YOUR COMPUTER, PRESS F8 TO SELECT ADVANCED STARTUP OPTIONS, AND SELECT SAFE MODE.
    TECHNICAL INFORMATION:
    ***STOP: 0x0000000A (0x000002cc, 0x000000FF, 0x00000000, 0x80523912)

so what can i do? why is this?

There are some links here for guidance in troubleshooting:

    http://aumha.org/win5/kbestop.htm

The most immediate goal is to determine the driver and associated hardware which is causing the conflict. The faulting driver is usually included in the STOP message just under what you posted.

You can review old STOP messages by going to the Administrative Tools folder and opening the Events log. Look for red x's under the System Events log. Double click to open their properties pages. See if the driver is identified there. Sometimes they are not but it may be found in the minidump log in C:\WINDOWS\Minidump

These can be opened in Notepad and will pretty much look like gibberish but you can click Edit > Find and enter stop and possibly see the full driver information included with the Stop message if it wasn't in the Events log.

You should also make clear when the problem started. If after installing new hardware or updating something, then that is a likely culprit. You can roll back drivers or do System Restores to return to a previous state.

The best thing to do would be to go to HP's website and look for an update for the Scanjet for XP operating system. If it's due to outdated drivers for the Scanjet, that should fix it.

But otherwise you would probably need to uninstall the software and physically disconnect the scanner to test it properly.

Have you looked further to see if you can identify the actual driver mentioned in the Stop message? That is really the first thing to look into.

You may also find HP files which can be kept from loading by running msconfig and unchecking them under the Startup tab.

If you post a Scanlog using HijackThis I might be able to tell you what to look for.

    http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/

If you've uninstalled EasyCD and nothing for it is starting up, that should not be the problem.

In addition to your scanner software you have a number of unusual startups going there that I would at least temporarily disable for troubleshooting purposes.

You can do this by running msconfig and clicking on the Startup tab.

Remove checks for the following items (you won't see them listed quite in this form, but you should recognize them):

    [RegisterDropHandler] C:\PROGRA~1\TEXTBR~1.0\Bin\REGIST~1.EXE

    [NeroCheck] C:\WINDOWS\system32\NeroCheck.exe

    [MsmqIntCert] regsvr32 /s mqrt.dll

    [InstantAccess] C:\PROGRA~1\TEXTBR~1.0\Bin\INSTAN~1.EXE /h
    [hppwrsav] C:\SCANJET\PrecisionScanLT\hppwrsav.exe

[Emurayden PSX Emulator] G:\Program Files\Emurayden PSX Emulator v2.1\Emurayden PSX AutoLauncher.exe

[CyberLat Ram Cleaner] C:\Program Files\CyberLat\CyberLat RAM Cleaner 2,0\CLRamCleaner.exe

    [CloneCDElbyCDFL] "G:\HECTOR\clonecd\ElbyCheck.exe" /L ElbyCDFL

    [RegisterDropHandler] C:\PROGRA~1\TEXTBR~1.0\Bin\REGIST~1.EXE

I'm also a little concerned about all those server related files you seem to have running, probably starting as system services. I don't know whether this is related to something you have intentionally installed, or is a result of some malware aquired through Kazaa.

    C:\WINDOWS\System32\mqsvc.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\mqtgsvc.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\dllhost.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\inetsrv\DavCData.exe

Again, we are shooting in the dark here if you can't get a proper Stop message that indicates the driver file which is faulting. Have you checked the Events log and the other location I mentioned?

it could also be a hardware issue...xp will hang on start up if you have damaged hardware, where as me etc will bypass faults and run or try to ...
when i changed from ME to XP my system hung, the problem was a memory stick, which had a faulty module. It worked fine with ME but system wouldnt boot with XP...

i would not think that the scanner would cause the system to hang, only internal components ie. memory gfx card hdd etc... have you installed the original driver, then updated it with the xp patch?
