I cant seem to boot up my computer at all,not even in safe mode, dont know whats happened, please any advice would be most helpful.
I am using Windos XP Home edition.

The Blue screen error is as follows:

    "STOP:C0000218 (Registry File Failure)
Registry cannot load the hive (file):
    \SystemRoot\System32\Config\SYSTEM
    or its log or alternate.
It is Corrupt, absent, or not writable."

It seems something has corrupted vital registry files, but i get the same error when booting into safe mode, dont know what to do now? possibly a virus ?

    please any advice

I do not want to format c

    thanks

    Welcome to TSG.

You stated you tried SAFE MODE, did you try Last Known Good Configuration?

Have a look at How to troubleshoot a Stop 0xC0000218 error.

Which leads to How to recover from a corrupted registry that prevents Windows XP from starting.

You could also slave your drive into another system running XP, do a virus scan and retrieve your important files.
