John here, customer advocate at Dell headquarters.

What I would recommend is that you first turn off the paging file temporarily before running a chkdsk repair, and then turning the paging file back on.

    To do this:

    1. Right-click My Computer-->choose "properties"-->choose "advanced"-->click "settings" in the performance section-->choose "change" in the "Virtual memory" section, select "no paging file", hit ok, then ok, and restart the system

    2. After the restart (the system may run slower with no paging file) click "Start"-->click "Run"--->type "cmd" (no quotes) and hit enter "chkdsk /f /r" without the quotes. This will scan the hard disk and attempt to repair the bad sector. If it doesn't repair it, it should mark it as bad so the filesystem won't use it anymore. It will probably require a restart to finish the repair

    3. Reverse step #1 to get your paging file back and restart the system

That should do the trick. If not, post the results here.
