Okay i have never used one of these before ever. But i borrowed my mates laptop and its killed itself...

It gave me a blue screen of death and now i try and turn it on and it says

    'operating system not found'

i tried lookin through the boot menu and all of that but i dont understand any of it.

could someone just tell me if i have actually killed the laptop permenantly or if i just need to start again.

    thanks...

Well if you have a boot disk (you didn't mention what operating system you're running), you could boot off that and see if you can access the drive... if so, you may be able to run CHKDSK and get it working again. If not, it may require replacing the drive and reinstalling the OS.
