Well, my sister has been having problems with her HP laptop. Running Windows Vista.

I zipped the minidump files on her laptop for anybody to check the files, because it seems it's been happening quite regularly the past couple of days for her.

I myself fixed this problem on one of my older laptops once before, but I can't seem to find the error this time around!

There wasn't a common error code, it was different most of the time. I uninstalled many of her recent upgraded software as well, but the blue screen has continued to come up.

Here are a few codes it has shown for the many times the computer has done a minidump:

    BAD_POOL_CALLER
    BAD_POOL_HEADER
    IPQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

    Any help?

    Hi and welcome.
    Minidump check.
    Probably caused by : SYMEVENT.SYS
    Probably caused by : memory_corruption
Are two of the recent ones.

    SYMEVENT.SYS
Reates to Symantec [Norton] Internet Security.
    Uninstall the program and re-intall.
That may help in re-installing the drivers.

    Memory_corruption.
    Run a Mem Test.
    http://www.memtest86.com/download.html
    http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp

Download the ISO file from one of the links above to your desktop.
Then burn the ISO to a Cd.
Start the Pc using the Cd and run the memory test overnight or for at least 8 passes.

It is best to run a full scan on individual Ram sticks if you can.
Or run the test but if any errors are shown - then remove all sticks of Ram and test each Ram stick one at a time.

You can also run the Mem test from a USB stick

Scroll down to [Download (Pre-built & ISOs]
Download -Auto-installer for USB Key (Win 9x/2k/xp/7) *NEW!*

What's the model name and model number of that HP/Compaq laptop?

If you don't know for sure, advise what the product number(P/N) and/or model number(M/N) on the sticker is.

Thanks blues_harp28 ! I'll tell her to uninstall/reinstall her norton anti-virus first thing tomorrow. Then do a memory test within the next couple of days.

It's an HP Pavillion dv4 1308ca notebook pc.

I'll check with her on the numbers tomorrow!

Here is the support site for the HP Pavilion dv4-1308ca Entertainment (product number NV163UA#ABC) laptop/notebook.

If HP Customer Care no longer has the recovery disc kit available for purchase from here, you should be able to purchase it from Computer Surgeons HP Recovery Center.

If the built-in recovery partition doesn't work so that laptop/notebook can be reverted back to its original factory condition (if needed), or if the hard drive dies and needs to be replaced, the recovery disc kit will be needed.
