First of all, this is my first time posting, and I'm not sure under what heading it should go but here goes.
A few days ago, I started getting the Blue Screen of Death. I get it about 3 times a day. I have read some other sites that mention drivers, new hardware, etc., but I've changed nothing. Does anyone have any ideas on what could be causing this? I am kind of new to computers. Thanks.

Hi BeachGaBulldog,

There could be a great many reasons for such a problem. Could you tell what error code you are getting? As you are worried about your hard drive I would suggest running a diagnostics test on it with a brand specific tool to see its health. You can post the SMART results here after the extended test. Also providing information about your build could help.
Other than that, as a basic level of troubleshooting, I would suggest making sure all your cables and components are firmly in place. Another thing would be to monitor your components temperatures. Running a malware scan wouldn't hurt. Are there any other symptoms?
Taking a look (and possibly posting a screen shot) of “Windows even viewer” would be helpful as the problem could be caused by software.
You can also consider running a memory test and a complete stress test of your system.
Another thing to check out is memory leaks. Here is an article that can help you with that: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms859408.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396

If none of that helps we could start looking into hardware problems, however, you should provide more information about your system for that.
P.S. Check out the link that @donatao provided.

Keep us posted,

Give me your pc specs. What were you doing when it gave you the blue screen?

Thank you for the input. I got so frustrated, I finally just decided to take it to a repairman, after wrestling with the problem for a couple of days.

billmcct,

I've deleted two of your posts. Please do not direct users to go to other site forums when they've come here for assistance unless it's to do with a specific product or service where they may be better helped on the vendor's site (for instance an anti-virus program). It's fine to post links to possible solutions at other sites but we have the resources to help users solve their BSOD or other computer issues here in our own forums. Thanks for understanding. :)
