I have a Sony Laptop and have used every help I can find to prevent the "blue Screen" problem. I have done th f8 and tried all the solutions. It will not support the "safe mode" I even went through the cmd prompt and did all the entries of "ren default default.old and the other 4 like that and then the "copy" modes to match still nothing. I have read hundreds of entries about this problem and tried anything that sounded hopeful but I guess I haven't hit the magic one yet. I do not have the disk nor will it run in the safe mode to re-install.
Help?

there is no message...goes from sign on to a blue screen after log in. It does eventually go to the screen saver and an update for apple i tunes came in and updated and no problems with that and then right back to the blue screen...no message at any point an dI have tried all the options on the dos menu from doing the f8 thing.
One time before all this started I got a funny message before sign on...something like you need to sign on as the admin or choose not to have the tool bar I think???

You mention having tried all the solutions from F8 but have you tried choosing the cmd prompt and typing in "chkdsk /r" without the quotation marks and ok to either mount the drive or do checkdisk on restarting? This sounds like a bad hard drive to me.
It also sounds like the real problem may be close to the beginning of the drive where a product like Hard Drive Regenerator might fix it to get past the problem. There is a trial version but you can only repair one sector at a time with the trial but if it does repair even 1 then you know that is the problem.

You could then try running a Linux Live-cd like Ubuntu or Puppy Linux to copy off files and data to a flash drive or mobile hard drive and then replace the hard drive.

I'm having trouble finding the support site for your laptop.

There should be a number on it that starts with VGN or VPC.

Which country do you live in?

I had no luck at the Malaysia or Singapore support sites.

Without confirming its exact identity, I can't help you any further.
