I too receive random popups when no browser app is started. I have tried Spybot/Adaware/MSCONFIG. Some of these (kddeshare.exe, vejcz.exe) are suspicious but need an expert opinion. Anyone see anything here?

Much appreciated...

Hi Pick17

Welcome to TSG! :)

I see you are running Hijack This from a temp folder now. This is a bad idea because it cannot create and restore backups from there. You need to create a new folder in My Documents and name it Hijack This. Move the hijackthis.exe from the temp folder to the Hijack This folder you created. That way it can create and restore backups if needed. HJT will store the backups in the same location that it is run from.

After moving it to it's own permanent folder, run Hijack This again and put a check by these. Close all windows except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"

Restart to safe mode.

How to start your computer in safe mode

First in safe mode click on My Computer. Go to Tools > Folder Options. Click on the View tab and make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is checked. Also uncheck "Hide protected operating system files" and "Hide extensions for known file types" . Now click "Apply to all folders"
Click "Apply" then "OK"

Now find and delete:

The C:\Program Files\TV Media folder
The C:\WINDOWS\vejcz.exe file
The C:\WINDOWS\System32\spncheck.exe file
The C:\WINDOWS\System32\kddeshare.exe file

Also I highly recommend that you go to Windows update and install all "Critical Updates and Service Packs". This will patch numerous security holes in IE and Windows.

There are 4 UID's on this computer. Is it necessary to run HJT for each one?
Also, AdAware reports file win\sys32\akd.cpy.dll cannot be deleted.

Yes, but please post them one at a time. When we finish with one we'll proceed to the next. Let's finish the one we have already been working on first.

You've still got this in your running processes:

C:\DOCUME~1\David\LOCALS~1\Temp\bwgo0001adbf.exe

And these in the log:

R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {8952A998-1E7E-4716-B23D-3DBE03910972}_ - (no file)
R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {CFBFAE00-17A6-11D0-99CB-00C04FD64497}_ - (no file)

Did you boot to safe mode and delete the entire contents of the C:\Documents and Settings\David\Local Settings\Temp folder as I suggested? That must be done.

Here's what I did.
1) Deleted the entries in HJT as instructed.
2) Booted to safe mode with network..., but logged in as Administrator, not "D"
3) Deleted all files/folders from Local Settings/Temp for ALL users
4) Rebooted, logged in as "D" and reran HJT

Perhaps rebooting to safe mode without network and logging in as "D" will make a difference?

Thanks

I did a search for bwgo000 and found 17 files in C:\Windows\Prefetch...

You can delete all those in the prefetch folder. Are you on a home network?
