Ok, this is really starting to cheese me off. I have an Abit KN8 Ultra mobo with an AMD 3700 san diego, now the computer recognises (in CMOS) all my drives, so i boot from the CD drive and begin installing windows - I format the master HDD in IDE port 1 - Windows copys itself to the harddrive and the computer reboots then "Detecting IDM drives" "Boot disk failure" "press ctrl+alt+del to restart" WHY!!!
Are you using the RAID controller? Does the controller require drivers for the XP installation, F6 option when initially setting up Windows? What is your BIOS boot order set to?
i used the raid controller and it just said "boot disk failure" "insert system disk and press enter" though i might have not installed the raid drivers for xp, I'll give it a go. (just a little annoying cos i gotta keep using the ram fom this comp)
[EDIT]
ok i enabled raid and began installing windows with the XP raid drivers off the supplied floppy disk, windows copied to the harddrive, the computer restarted and guess wot......."boot disk failure"
