Boot.ini troubles

I recently formatted 2 of my hard drives that had OSs on the, but the OS still show up in the Boot.ini. Does anyone know how to get rid of the?

You can edit the BOOT.INI file in the root of C: and remove the extra entries. FYI, here's the contents of a single boot XP-Pro BOOT.INI file on this system.

[boot loader]
timeout=3
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect

Note that boot.ini will be set as read-only unless you have previously changed it. So you should change it before editing.

Notepad works just fine for editing boot.ini.

start > run > msconfig
Click the boot.ini tab
Click Check all boot paths.
