    Hello,

I have an ASUS M51V which has boot issues. When it boots it takes around 5 minutes to load and then enters a system recovery telling me to select my Windows Vista drivers.

During the boot it hangs on 'Auto-detecting AHCI Port 1..'

What would be on port one? The CD drive?

    OS: Windows Vista
ASUS laptop, boots fine all other times, just started occuring

    Any ideas? I'm fairly lost.

its a bios issue not the operating system so to start with has bios reset? did you flash bios?

suggest entering bios usually press delete on start up or it will flash up for a second on boot like press f2 to enter set up, anyhow when in bios look for the port 1 which very likely is the hard drive, usually a feature is there to auto detect the drives so if so the try that, re boot if no good back to bios again to go to option set fail safe defaults re boot if that no good back again to other defaukts like optimised defaults, if all that does not work then possible isssue with the restore method on your lappy>? does it have a partition with an image on it?
