Does the board support the processor you installed? Correct Socket type? Did you change the jumpers to match the CPU speed?

Hi, Would be very hard to say. There could have been other problems, like cabling, jumpers on wrong, BIOS settings, memory chips wrong type, speed, size....or things not plugged in right, overheating....some of these problems might have affected the CPU....overheating is one that really could have. So could the heat sink being put on wrong....voltage settings wrong, overclocking....really, it would be hard to say. Only way is to test it by putting it into a board meant for it, that is set up right. The auto-setup boards out these days are good for that...they are supposed to autodetect the speed, voltage settings for CPU and run them without you doing much, like the old jumpers system.
If you do buy this CPU, try just a very minimal bootup first, nothing but video, RAM at a minimum, CPU, hard drive..... One very obvious bad or damaged CPU symptom is text that contains very common, misspelled words.....not garbage text, but random even small words misspelled....in the screens you see at bootup, and any error messages might have spelling errors.
