I have a pc that acted very weird. I searched the forums looking for an answer why it was restarting the whole time just after it started up. Eventually I loaded Xp on another drive and Put my original drive in as a slave drive and tested the drive with AVG Antivirus.

AVG said that I have the brontok virus on my pc. The problem is that I cannot get rid of it.
I downloaded 3 programs stating that they remove the brontok virus. They did not help at all.
The virus must stil be on my Pc because when I do a normal start in windows the pc just restarts after it got into windows. I can boot into safemode but as soon as I run Combofix or a program that removes smitfraud the pc shuts down and restars.
It is as if the virus is protecting itself against removal.
Can anyone please help me with this ???

    • Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop.
    • Doubleclick on the HJTInstall.exe icon on your desktop.
    • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
    • Click on Install.
    • It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
    • Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
    • Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
    • Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
    • Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
    • DO NOT have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

I am going to give it a try in safemode because I am unable to boot into the machine in normal mode. As soon as windows started it has a error with some file and shuts down.
