If I connect to an open WiFi network that should trigger a login/landing page when I open a browser then this does not happen & although there is a local connection I am unable to connect to the Internet. Can anyone suggest a solution as I am totally stumped...!

This is replicated in all the main browsers.
I can connect to secure networks and via an Ethernet cable fine.
The issue persists even with the firewall (Norton) disabled.
I do not have ZoneAlarm installed.
The issue persists even if ipv6 is disabled.
The connection is set to acquire an ip address etc automatically.
I have acquired the URLs of the login pages using my iPhone and even entering them manually does not work.
Pinging the same domains fails 100%.
Renewing all network adaptors using ipconfig makes no difference.
The network adaptors are installed and working correctly.

I'm running Vista on a MacBook using Bootcamp and previously there has not been a problem.
