Have been getting a lot of "can't connect to remote server" messages and now blank pages. Have found that when I try and go into "tools", I am getting a message that I cannot use them because of restrictions on my computer! I am the only user. Maybe I did something wrong. Would really appreciate some help. I have Windows 98 and I use, primarily, Opera browser which Ihave had for a couple of months. Did instal freeware of AntiVir a couple of weeks ago and found 5 trojans yesterday which I deleted the files.
Also my computer wont turn off itself: I have to hold down off switch. Dont know if it is all related.
    Any suggestions?
I also have IE and it was their "tools" button I was trying to access to see if I could find out anything.
Get same error messages and blank pages when I try to use IE too.

try start / run and type in sfc , then have it check for missing or corrupted files.

That doesnt really help because I dont know what file to look for and there seem to be dozens of altered files.
