Hi, My browser somehow got stuck showing only 256 colors, web pages, buttons, everything. The rest of my system is just as its always been @ 32bit 1024x768.
pictures that I already have on my machine look fantastic while all pictures that I view or save all look bad and I cant figure it out.
I have purposely gone and looked at high res pictures and cant view them because explorer will not resolve them. I have a kick *** machine and graphics card with winxp. can someone please help me get my explorer back to 32 bit color, please please...

If you are running IE 5.5 or 6 go to add remove programs in the control panel and highlite Microsoft Internet Explorer, then select add/remove, a box will pop up, select "repair" and follow the prompts...let us know if it works...Rhett PS,welcome to TSG :)

My error, thought it said ME, not XP, I don't think that XP has the repair feature...lets see if I can get a Moderator to move this to the correct forum...Rhett

Working from a vague and distant memory here but I think I've seen that problem resolved by clearing IE's cache and all temporary internet files. It's worth a shot, anyway. ;)

I've been searching the Forum for this similar problem and thanks to DanBoone, I've found someone who shares my misery and confusion. Clearing out Temp pages and cache have no effect on this. All pictures downloaded from my camera appear sharp and crisp, yet when viewing picitures (on e-Bay, for example) or any graphics, the colors look "mottled". That's the best word to describe them, I guess. At first I thought it may be my graphics card drivers (nVidea GP2 - 64 Mb ------or something close to that), yet everything else (i.e. pictures downloaded from my camera) look fine.

Any other help would be appreciated.................

I'm getting pretty frustrated with this problem.......can anybody help?? Anything at all other than clearing cache and deleting all temp files? I did a IE 6 repair and it said that it could not be fixed and must be re-installed, which I did. Still no help. I'm going to try to post a picture of what I see.........hope it works, but if it doesn't I would be glad to e-mail some to anyone who's interested.

Most of the replies I read have asked for this information, so I thought I'd provide it before anyone asked. FYI, I have 2 hard drives with the "C" drive set up as primary master and the "D" drive as primary slave. Please review for any help you can provide, regardless if it pertains to this thread or not.......Thanks, again!!

Seems that this thread has been "stuck".......is this issue so unique that the people that are usually soooo helpful (and I really mean that!!), are actually stumped?? I find that hard to believe. C'mon people.....give it a shot!! :D

Could that "Earthlink Accelerator\pac-image.html" be the problem? Most "accelerators" used by ISPs merely compress images so they'll load faster...and the compression reduces the quality. The term "pac-image" implies that's exactly what it's doing.

See if there's any way to disable that accelerator thing and, if so, see if the picture quality improves when it's disabled.

Thanks, Miz........ I will try to disable that first thing tonight when I get home. I'll post the results. Thank you for the suggestion.....
