Hi there, first post! Found this forum thanks to a google search regarding my particular issue, which led me to this thread: http://forums.techguy.org/windows-vista/918633-solved-bsod-afd-sys.html

Described problem seemed similar, insofar as the bsods I'm getting most often reference afd.sys as well. Tried some of the things mentioned in that thread but the issue persists. Getting blue screens 100% of the time when starting the steam client, bittorrent, and sometimes when streaming netflix video. The issue started, as best I can tell, when I started using a usb to ethernet adapter (my motherboard's ethernet port stopped working). Any further advice would be much appreciated.

Edit: meant to mention that I did also try repairing the install on the software for the adapter, as well as simply uninstalling it.

Is it a desktop system ? Try installing a regular network card and see what happens. Costs around $15 and you can return it if it doesn't make a difference.
