I'm getting the BSOD all the time now, and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for me. I've read through the forums, but haven't found a solution yet. I just got all new parts for comp. Started restarting all the time, most of the time while gaming, so I reinstalled and everyting worked good for about 2 weeks. Now it's back again doing it.

Most of the time its the nv4disp.dll error, but I've had a couple of win2k.sys, tcpip.ese, irq_not_less_than_or_equal, page faulted in something or other. Seems pretty random, but most errors seem to point to nv4disp.dll. I've tried different vid drivers, but get same results.

amd 2500+
gigabyte k7triton nforce2 chipset (latest drivers, tried old and new)
gforce fx 5600 256mb (latest drivers, tried old and new)
2 samsung 512 3200 in dual channel.

Heat's not an issue, its always pretty cool. I've tried running in single channel mode, tried using just 1 stick of ram using both sticks. Nothing seems to help. Tried changing fsb to 400 to match mem, still no luck. My friend bought all the same stuff, just different brand of mem, and has no problem. Do U think I should mess with my mem timings, or could I just have a bad vid card?

In my event viewer, the only errors that I'm seeing have to do with the DCOM. No idea what that is, or if the time corrilates with the crashes.

Any help is appreciated.

nv4dll error
d/l the latest drivers from
www.nvidia.com
in the device manager delete the card
reboot pressing f8 and choose vga mode
when windows finishes installing the card
then install the new drivers
make sure a/v is turned off during this

Thanks, I've tried that though. Just for the heck of it I tried it again today, it's crashed twice. Both errors are errors that I've never seen before

Ya I did that just like you said. Windows said it was unable to install drivers, so I didn't install nvidia on top of windows drivers. I'll give it another try though.

Thanks for your time

if you delete the card and restart in vga mode,it comes up without any drivers until you install them.
it stops windows from auto loading the old ones

Well it lasted longer that time, but still ended up with bsod
nv4disp.dll

EVGA gforce fx5600 256, using the 56.72 dets. I've tried older ones and these new ones.

One thing I thought today, my front usb shocked my camera once and restarted comp, and also wife touched mouse and it shocked it and messed it up. Hopefully something hasn't been fried inside.

Thanks for still giving me hope.

i use an asus 5200 and have had a lot of problems loading updated drivers for it.
try loading the ones that came on the setup disk with the card.
it sounds like you have something shorting to the case, check no loose cables or wires touching the case
evga looks like they include their own extras in the driver realease so get your drivers from them

if your rear usb ports are free disconnect the front ones (at the m/b) and connect to the rear,to see if this makes a difference.
in msconfig turn off all startups that are not needed
run the manufacturers diognostic program on the h/d
press f8 when booting up and choose vga mode and see if it runs ok this will see if something else besides nvid4dll is causing the problem

Should've read your post earlier. I reinstalled everything last night. left it with bare minimums for software and put newest patches on initially. played for a little bit, then this morning played and it crashed again. dl western digital utilitiy, said it was all good. then i unplugged my front usb.........so far i played about an hour with no crash, and no stuttering like before. not gonna get too excited yet, but that may have been it. i'll keep ya posted.

thanks for all your help so far man.
