Add a 90-dollar modular Seasonic power supply http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151088
and you're close to being done.
I might personally go for a GTX680, (this for example, or maybe this one) as I recall AMD's cards still having some trouble running intensive OpenGL games and for GTX680's overall higher performance at the same price point but the XFX lifetime warranty does give a point or two for 7970.
I think you forgot to link that RAM in the thread Anyway, it has lower latencies. It's somewhat faster and going for 8-8-8-24 timings instead of 9-9-9-24 for just 10 dollars more is a decent idea, the 7-8-8-24 for another 20 dollars more isn't however. Only 1 tick lower CAS latency alone doesn't really help at all.
I'm not going to carry it around much. Maybe just move it a few times a year. Should I still do ATX or mATX? What's wrong with ITX? Expandability? But isn't smaller size better.
2x4 GB vs 1x8 GB performance should be noticeably better.
Mini-ITX could work if you can get your hard drive(s) and SSD(s) into the case together with the video card. The Prodigy seems to be spacious and cool well, but it's also said to be large enough to defeat the purpose of being a mini-ITX whatsoever, thus pretty much taking us back to a mATX case instead.
