    OS Version: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro, 64 bit
    Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700HQ CPU @ 2.80GHz, Intel64 Family 6 Model 158 Stepping 9
    Processor Count: 8
    RAM: 8042 Mb
    Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950M, -2048 Mb
    Hard Drives: C: 67 GB (20 GB Free); D: 750 GB (178 GB Free); E: 81 GB (13 GB Free);
    Motherboard: GIGABYTE, P17FV7
    Antivirus: 360 Total Security, Updated: Yes, On-Demand Scanner: Enabled

    I run the above 2017 GIGABYTE P17FV7 laptop with the Built-in Chicony usb 2.0 camera & amcap driver. I also have other webcam software installed & all do the same annoying thing; They want me in close proximity to the webcam to work.
    So what settings do I change to be able to sit at least 6ft. away without the preview screen going black?

    Something you might try doing is to rid of 360 Total Security and stick with Windows 10's built-in antivirus app Windows Defender Antivirus
    Windows 10 doesn't do well with using a third-party antivirus app(especially in laptops), and it can cause various issues.
