Burned DVD reading as blank?

    I have some burned DVDs with home videos on them. When I put them in the DVD drive on my Mac desktop, they read as blank. The DVDs will play in a regular DVD player, so they do have content on them. I restarted the computer in 32 bit mode, and it worked (the system read the DVD). But after doing that one time, that work-around stopped working and the system reads the DVDs as blank even if I restart. Are there any other ways to get the system to read the DVD?

    Sounds like an issue with the drive itself.

    I don't use a Mac, but disc recognition is a function of the drive. The ability to read a disc is the drive and the OS. I wouldn't expect a Mac to have any issues reading a video DVD (assuming the disc is actually a video spec DVD). If it's simply video files burned as data, then yes, I could see this being a disc format issue.
