burner not functioning properly

    recently purchased comp equiped with 48 X combo cd-dvd burner.....wanted to add a 40 X cd player to comp........when this player is added it works fine but existing burner unit will not play a cd in any program.........burner is in master mode and player is in slave mode........burner works fine when cd player is not connected.....any suggestions welcome......

    :rolleyes: Try setting the burner as slave and the Cdrom as Master on the appropriate positions on the IDE Cable. Also do you have an audio cable running from both devices to the Motherboard. The Audio Cable is the small usually round cable with a 4 pin plug at each end.
