If you are using recordable cds to save your data files, do not finalize when you burn them. The burning software you are using gives you that option. That means you can add more files later. In the old days before usb sticks we didn't have too many options. IMO, blank cds now are mostly used to play music. I am not giving up cd players in my cars and at home yet. MP3 files are fine with small portable players during workouts or at beach, park, etc. My old ears can tell the difference between lossless and compressed files.
Naming a cd helps if you don't write anything on it and insert it into your computer's dvd drive. Then, you will see the name next to dvd drive letter.
