hello tech support guys,

i would like to burn some cd's using mp3s on my computer (that i 'ripped' from cd's with a cd 'ripper'). i would need to install nero, and i am almost ready to give it a try (and have a nero cd in hand). there is a program on this computer called 'adaptec' that can copy cd's and burn cd's using .wav format, but it cannot work with mp3s. must i delete the adaptec program before installing nero?

i don't know much on this topic. :( i know that antivirus software programs can compete with one another and therefore only one antivirus program should be installed. logic tells me that since burning software does not 'run in the background' as antivirus programs do, one can have two burning programs on a computer? is this true... or just wishful thinking? (i do not want to delete the adaptec program, as it does a fine job of copying cd's, and i already know how to use it .)

thank you in advance for any comments/suggestions. :)

it best to only have 1 cd writer on the PC.
I know little about music files but I thought MP3 would be just like datafiles and adaptec would jsut write the files as data files - unless theres something special about how they are used on a CD.

i'll look at my adaptec version

No problem - do you have the original CD for Adaptec (Roxio CD Creator) if so you could remove and then try nero.

I have seen a few posts here where gurus have suggested not to have 2 writers on at once.

hopefully someone knowlegable will answer

etaf,

no, i do not have the original adaptec CD :(

i need to do more research on nero... i would guess it copies CDs also... lol... and that it would therefore duplicate this function that i already have with adaptec...

so i guess i'll put the disc in and read about it (tomorrow when i have the time), but i won't install it yet.

thanx again for your assistance. :)

Nero (depends on version I guess, and if its a full version or demo - so if you could post). My Roxio came with the compaq laptop I have but its not a full version - hence the grayed out MP3 bit.......
Nero has the writing capabilities + has the directCD equivalent - i think its called inCD.

so post version and is it full?

OEM version may be the clue - my Roxio will be a OEM version - i guess we need an expert from the forum who knows about NERO, before you go through the pain of uninstalling reinstallinfg only to find it too does not do mp3's :) .

whats the readme say
