After having a shock at how much i'm to pay for a laptop before i go to university; i wondered if you could buy a laptop without Windows or Apple installed on it, and would it be cheaper?
I would like a new one as i can't afford my laptop to break if i'm going to university with it.

Can i get cheap Linux Laptops in the UK?

You can buy a new laptop with Windows for not too much money. Where are you looking that gave you sticker shock? Dell once (may still?) sold computers with Linux pre-installed, but they weren't that much cheaper than Windows computers. You definitely can't buy an Apple computer without an operating system. No such thing.

New laptops can break or have components fail too. If you're going to be carrying it around a university campus, I would recommend paying even more for an accidental damage warranty. Of course I live in the US, and I've read some interesting things about insurance policies (home owners/renters) in other countries that cover such things.
