I am buying ram for my new computer, and I'm trying to figure this all out. Its been about 5 years since I last built a computer so I'm a bit out of the loop on how things work.
Basically, I'm looking at a motherboard that has a max RAM capacity of 8GB, it has 4 slots (the GIGABYTE GA-965P-DS3 mobo) and whats got me confused is how the RAM works. I'm not familiar at all with dual channel RAM. Basically, will 4 sticks of dual channel ram be able to be installed in it? I want to order RAM that says its a "Dual-Channel Kit" so that makes me wonder, can I buy 2 of these "kits" and put both sets in my single mobo?
I hope my question was clear enough. Also, the motherboard has 4 RAM slots, but I wasn't sure if I needed to buy the "Quad-Channel kit" or if that was just fancy for 4 ram sticks.
Thank you for any help!
