Hi everybody, I hope somebody can help me out.

Whenever my computer that runs on XP starts up, I get this message saying,

    C:\WINDOWS/system32\regsvr32.exe
The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction.
    CS:0549 IP:0188 OP:Of 00 00 02 01 Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.

If I click ignore, more and more just keep popping up so I just end up choosing ignore.

Does anybody have a clue to what the problem is?

I'm not sure why you have regsvr32 running on startup, but try this:
Start > Run > type "msconfig" > under the "Startup" tab uncheck anything related to 'regsvr32'

Do you have any idea what the blank entry might be?

I'd uncheck that one to be safe. Restart your computer, and the next time Windows starts up, you'll get a message about the system configuration utility, check the box and click OK. Run > "msconfig" again to see if that entry remains unchecked.

Have you tried to install any 16-bit, or DOS application lately?

    I don't believe so.

It does say at the top of that box that pops up, 16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem
