i am accessing the internet through resnet at my college. I am using windows xp pro, however, periodically a little message will pop up and say a network cable is unplugged, with the little computer symbol and an X through it. i checked all the cables and they are all firmly attached. i tried repairing the connection, and that still didn't help. it causes constant lag in the few games that i Can connect too. need help or suggestions.

I would first try a new cable.

If that does not work, gently move the cable on the back of computer up and down and then side to side to see if the message about "cable unplugged" shows up again. It is definitely going to be either a bad cable or a bad connector on your PC or outlet.
