I've got a cable modem (surfboard 4100) and i'm using windows ME with a pentium 3 550MHZ 128 megs of RAM. THe problem I'm having is that my cable modem works great for 15-20 minutes after bootuup then for some reason, I go offline. The lights on my modem work fine as they are supposed to. Looking at my modem (external) it looks like I should be on line. I've tried using a 6DB attenuator because my signal level was too high, I've tried swapping out my modem (which didn't work). The cable company gave me new lines from the phone pole (which didn't work)...oh I am using the modem in my USB port instead of using it with an ethernet card...It HAS worked in the past for longer periods but NEVER more than 12 hours. The only thing I've done different since then was install Norton system utility 2001. I even tried unintalling that too but it didn't work either....I have beat my head on the wall over this one....any suggestions? I really don't want to reformat my hard drive but if nobody has any suggestions I guess I'll have to try that.......
thanks for any light that anyone may shine my way :)

It could be your ISP giving you a short lease time, to check go to start>Run>winipconfig click more info and check the lease expires field.
