Ok, i got a cable modem on tues of this week and have had speed problems since. The max. i can get on a speed test is about 30-40 KBPS. I am with Earthlink/TWC cable internet service. Anyone have an idea of how to fix it? BTW, i have a USB modem.

should prob'ly be in the networking forum but wth, i ain't no mod! LOL

Your download speed : 3882312 bps, or 3882 kbps.
Browsers would show : about a 473.9 k/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 153550 bps, or 153 kbps.
Your connection rocks .. above the 1mbit barrier!

just did the above test at this site: DslReports

try it and:
1 - register, so you can record and see your speed tests
2 - do the speed test first to get a baseline
3 - then do the tweak test (with firewall off if you have one - and you should)
3a - download DrTCP if it suggests it and make the rwin change if suggested
4 - post the tweak test link so we can see it

you may also want to cruise through the dsl community link and check out the forum for earthlink, there may be some specific info there from earthlink users

i do NOT recommend other sites which have you make a bunch of registry changes and add a bunch of stuff, the rwin and other settings that DrTCP changes are all you really need

Hi CronoStrife707,
I have had mine for about 5 months. I was having similar problems including not being able to connect. I call tech support and they gave me a new IP address. It has significantly changed my connection and download speed. I no longer have any problems connecting or downloading.
