My internet service provider is CABLE.
I'm on all the time and use a 4 port linksys router.
On the router i see an IP address in the Status area.
However, sometimes when I run an FTP server, i notice that in addition to my LAN address, i see that there is another weird IP address.
Also, I notice that if try to run a WEB server - I can not using the IP address noted on the LINKSYS.
However, the IP address that I can sometimes pick off the FTP server is addressable for a port 80 web server. It appears that both IP addresses are active simultaneously. However, the second one appears to be short lived and changes.
I understand that my CABLE provider blocks port 80, making it very difficult to serve up a web page - and the easy to use web servers utilize port 80.
Does anyone know how to easily identify this second IP address, how to lock it, how to control it, how to map it...etc etc....
Thanks.
