Here are locations that you can delete everything in

    c:\Recycled\*.*
    c:\Windows\Tempor~1\*.*
    c:\Windows\History\*.*
    c:\Temp\*.*
    c:\Windows\Intern~1\*.*
    c:\Windows\*.TMP
    c:\windows\cookies\*.*
    c:\*.tmp

If the cache isn't under \Windows\Temporary Internet Files, it is most likely under \Windows\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files.
Given your friend is running IE.

What was wrong with going to Internet Options, and on the General tab, in the Temporary Internet Files section, hit "delete files??

Tony-I had a friend with about 2 gigs in cookies/temp files, and the computer would freeze if used that button.

    I'll say!
He had like 100 icons on the desktop, all of his programs loading on startup (AIM, WinZip, Kazaa, OE, Word). It was a big mess.

I've taken a lot of people to Delete temp internet files, one time, it took 15 minutes to delete them. She had never deleted them before.
And they wonder why pages start coming up slow.

    When I

Tools/Options/delete cookies & files I thought that operation cleared everything.

    If I then explore in

    c:/windows/Local Settings/TIF/content.ie5
    or
    c:/windows/TIF/content.ie5

it is generally full of separate folders full of data and jpgs, gifs, swf etc. I usually just highlight it all and delete it but ...

how come it doesn't get deleted with the auto function?

and why is the folder called Content.IE5? I run IE6SP1. is that just a common carryover from the previous version or can I delete that too?

I guess I probably shouldn't be asking this here - oops

    The button only deletes
    (unless you changed the location)
    C:\Windows\Temporary Internet Files

    brendandonhu,

ah you are following me around lol,

you must think I am obsessed with covering my tracks, but I guess many people think deleting TIF gets rid of ALL their easily accessible Internet activity - like I did. Certainly doesn't seem to for me, I have to manually delete it from those locations above.

as you say the "button" only deletes from my
    C:\Windows\Temporary Internet Files
    directory.
