That should carry over to the feds in DC too. They can do what I've done over the years - buy my own vehicle and either depreciate the % business use cost, actual expense or allowable milage deduction. If they get a auto monthly allowance, do the same as I had to do - claim it as income and pay taxes on that which exceeds your deduction. Now if we can get them to take SS & Medicare same as us common folk, we may be on to something.:p

All companies / states should do that to cut spending. I tried to talk my last employer into doing that cause they were wasting my time and their money bringing all their people in from around the state for a monthly meeting in Houston which accomplished exactly nada in fiscal terms. I finally just quit going. They eventually shut down my division two years later as they started trying to cut cost, almost went broke, then got bought out by a competitor. Another second generation small business failure - 4th I've witnessed fail - the heirs never quite seemed to have that fire in their belly as their fore fathers.

Read today that SS will end sending paper checks in mid 2013 - it will either be electronic direct deposit to financial institution or a debit type card. Said it would save $1.6 B over 10 years.(y)
