I am helping a friend figure out why his cam won't work. He has windows 98, using a kennsington video works/cam works webcam with a usb port. When he first installed it, it froze his pc so he took it off the computer. Later when i assisted him in freeing up resources he has reinstalled the cam, but now pc keeps saying the cam is not loaded.

Could the problem be with the usb driver?? that the usb driver was not uninstalled when he gave up the first time so now when he reinstalls the cam with the cd, it won't connect the driver with the cam. (helped my aunt out earlier with her printer and usb port which had this problem) The cd did not have an uninstall component....so how can i uninstall the driver....so that we can try to reinstall the whole cam/driver to see if that works??

    Any assistance is welcome......thx viki

YOu should be able to uninstall the drivers/software from add/remove programs. If not boot into safe mode and go to device manager and remove all things related to the camera. Look under imaging devices, unknown devices and under USB controllers. Then reinstall the software first and then plug in the camera.
