Can any one recommend a 'generic' DV digital camcorder driver or where I could look for one?I have a brand new Samsung mini DV camcorder which wont interact with any pc Ive tried it on .I think the supplied drivers are duff as in Device Manager they produce error messages, and crash capture programmes and stuff, Samsung are a waste of space not interested. So I thought well I bet all the DV camcorders work the same way perhaps theres a general purpose driver I can try.Any suggestions appreciated

Mmmmh.................. I would think that Samsung would not shift many camcorders if they dont interface with PCs very well. Are you sure you are following the driver installation instructions?

Hi zeddy.Yes I totally agree it seems implausible.Ive tried installing the drivers as per the book. The CD rom when inserted autoruns and loads an installation screen. In windows Me it appears to be corrupted producing an overlapping double image.Anyway to all intents and purposes the drivers are loaded. They appear in control panel under sounds and multimedia, but when you highlight the device and click properties you get a message Rundll.32.An error has occurred ...etc.I loaded the drivers on my pc at workrunning windows 98se.Same error messages, but no corrupted loading window.Still no interaction between pc and camcorder other than to crash the computer when you try to capture still frames.Ive tried loading the drivers every which way and how including via add new hardware wizard, updating driver wizard, etc, which methods result in Windows telling me that no suitable drivers have been found. Apparently the camcorder is a new model only released in June ,maybe there's bugs who knows. No feedback from samsung except non existent engineers will ring me but never do.So if I had generic driver I could prove it one way or the other.

Have you gone to Samsungs site and downloaded updated drivers from there? you can also try www.driverguide.com they usually have a good selection of drivers. you have to sign up for access to the site (free) but they give everyone the same user and pass username:driver pass:all
Also, from another post i saw today, this site may be useful www.driverhq.com from there you can scan your pc for dll problems and updates. I havent used it yet put it looks good.
