I have a new panasonic SDR-h200 camcorder. This has a 30 gig HD to record video. when I attached the USB to the computer and camera, the HD was not recognized as being pluged in. USB port on computer works as I tested with another device. Software from Panasonic was loaded. any suggestions as to why the computer does not recognize the camera is attached?

i assume the HDD was formatted on the camera and you have saved a recording to the camera HDD OK

I think that cam requires USB2.
If you have an older computer you might need to upgrade the USB.
Another consideration-don't plug the camera into a hub-always plug directly into the usb port on the computer. If all else fails try plugging cam into a friends newer computer and see if it works.

the manual implies it will work on USB1 but may get problems with frame loss etc ..

Needed external power for the camcorder. No where in the instruction book did it show or say that. Once I pluged in the external power the computer was able to read...thanks all for the help.
