    Hi there :)

When you say camera, do you mean a 'web cam' camera, or a digital camera?

Have you checked the sony website for the latest drivers for your daughters laptop?

    What model is the laptop?

No I dont think she has checked with Sony. Can she just go to their website and update the drivers from there then? Also her laptop is a Sony Vaio with Vista. Thanks for your advice so far.

Has this PC run Windows Update? I would probably go there before going to the vendor. While the vendor's site might have newer drivers than Windows Update, it is usually best to bring the OS, products, and drivers up to snuff via Windows Update before resorting to point solutions.

no problem, if you look on the laptop it should say somewhere the model number then find it on their website :) and it should have a support section where you can check for any drivers and things. If you post the laptop model number (there are alot of different types of sony laptops) and your country of residence i'll look them up for you :)

EDIT: Do as AKAJohnDoe says first :)

no, windows anytime upgrade, upgrades your version of windows vista (eg from premium to ultimate) but that costs money and won't help matters.

Windows update is what AKAJohnDoe was talking about. I'll dig around for those drivers now :) where is your country of residence? UK, US, France, etc?

    No problem :)

Right i'm on the Sony UK site, but im having some trouble finding your laptop model. So i'm going to paste a link below, and you just need to do what it says and it'll find you laptop model on the site :D After you've done that look in the "drivers and utilities" section for the anything web cam related. If you get stuck at any point or can't find the section then do post back here :)
