Hello TheGutt,

Welcome to TSG! (y)

What's the make and model of the computer?

Let's also see the following three things.

----------------------------------------------------------

Device Manager
  • Press and hold the Windows button + R on your keyboard.
  • In the Run box type DEVMGMT.MSC and hit Enter.
  • Click the + next to Network Adapters so it expands, showing all installed hardware.
  • Take a screenshot of this window and attach the file in your next post.
  • Alternatively, list all hardware here along with indication of any exclamation points or question marks next to the entries.
----------------------------------------------------------

IPConfig
  • Hold the Windows key and press R on your keyboard.
  • In the Run box that appears, type CMD and click on OK.
  • Type the following command:
    • IPCONFIG /ALL
  • Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
  • Paste the results in a message here.
----------------------------------------------------------

Ping Test
  • Lastly, let's see this:
  • Hold the Windows key and press R on your keyboard.
  • In the Run box that appears, type CMD and click on OK.
  • Type the following command: PING google.com
  • Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
  • Paste the results in a message here.
  • If necessary, use a text file and removable media to copy the results to a computer with internet access for all of the above.

What was the purpose of the System Restore? Could you connect by Wi-Fi before the restore?

When you said "It doesn´t show up" you meant that your network is not detected, right? Are any networks detected? Can any other device detect the network?

What firewall or security suite is, or ever was, on the system?

It´s my younger brothers computer and a few days ago he came to me and said the his computer wouldn´t log in. The error message when i tried was "Cannot connect to system event notification service". Aa the hotfix for this problem hadn´t been fully tested by microsoft i decided to just go into safe mode and restore it 1 week back. After the restore it started up a bit slow and i could no longer connect to wireless networks.

By doesn´t show up i mean the the option for wireless networks is gone. The only network detected is my old hamachi network. Our how network works as my desktop and cellphone can connect to it.

I'm confused by what you mean here. The option for wireless network is gone, but you can detect networks?

Also hard to explain why, as the wireless adapter does show in the ipconfig /all. Is the wireless switched on?

The wireless option is should be switched on since the wifi symbol on the computer is glowing. I dont thik the external dongle was connected during the ipconfig if thats what you mean by wireless adaptor. Before i started this thread i saw that someone else that had a simular problem was told to do a "TCP/IP stack repair" so i did the same but to no reslut. Did that make it worse?
