Can anyone help me get rid of this virus

    Well for the second day in a row it seems i was infected with this virus i did a scan with mcafee and it found Exploit-MhtRedir.gen while trend micro calls it HTML MHTREDIRA.A .It seems this keeps showing up in the temp folder any idea why i have a firewall with Mcafee so why am i being infected and how can i get rid of this

    Well i just deleted it with trend micro does that mean it's gone also if a virus shows up in temp and you delete it are you ok .I can also post a log if you want to be safe

    If you really did delete it, the next virus scan shouldn't find it.

    If you are running XP or ME, you need to turn off system restore, then scan, then turn it back on and create a new restore point.

    What log are you wanting to post? Hijack This? Or the virus scan log?

    Do a Yahoo search on the name Exploit-MhtRedir.gen. There is a host of references to be found.

    Very good. I'd make a new system restore point for today.

    The deal with the system restore, is it could contain an infected file and if you need to use system restore, you'd be infected again.
