Hi I was wondering would anyone be able to help with this problem I have had with my laptop for ages (it even got sent away to be "fixed" but sent it back with the problem remaining. My packard bell laptop wont charge up and is only running off main power. In the icon box it is saying that its "plugged in, charging" but it stays on 0% constantly!!. As you can imagine this is very annoying because if I plug out the damn wire it just shuts down, therefore defeats the purpose of having a laptop! Any ideas on whats wrong or how to fix it? cheers, thanks,
    James.

P.S my laptop is a Packard Bell, AMD Athlon X2, Windows Vista, if that helps :D

Sounds to me like either the adapter or charging port are not working.
Have you tested the adapter to be sure power is coming from it?

Hi Vicks. Well the adapter is warm and the green light is on so i assume that theres power coming from it. I've tried a load of things to try and get to the bottom of it but no luck.. I'm thinking maybe the battery is broke but that shouldn't be as its been checked out by the tech guys that were looking at it.

It is quite a common fault to have a faulty connection inside the charging socket itself (it gets worn) and should have been found if it went for repair for battery not charging ....its either that or the battery is no longer accepting a charge is how I see it ...

....took the laptop in for repair, did you also provide the repair person with your own charger/adaptor, or did the repair tech use one that was in the repair shop? The charger unit may not be sending the appropriate voltage to the laptop, it might be that the charger unit does not have a good connection to the laptop. Do you have a multimeter to check the output voltage of the charger unit?
