I would like to add it to the grub loader at bootup to be able to choose from Windows or PClinuxOS on the internal hard drive or Solaris 10 on the external hard drive.

    Thanks

Don't think Solaris supports booting from an external USB hard disk.

I haven't tried Saoris booting from an external eSata disk though but it boots boots XP and Vista if the internal disk is removed.
