    Hello,

I had an issue with windows 7 and was advised to reinstall. I have reinstalled and tried to recover my work via windows.old. The files have appeared, but none of my work documents inside. And yes I did not back-up this weeks work....!!! Please can anyone help?

where did you save your work - the old files takes the user acounts info - if you saved in a different location its probably lost

    have a read here

This is what I used to get the empty file boxes back. Also the desktop shortcuts appeared but need installing. If i take my computer to a professioanl can they not recover from the hard drive?

that would be normal if the programs have not been re-installed - a few that link to a windows default program may still work OK

did you save the actual file or a shortcut to it ?

possibly - but very expensive , Its a while since i did that type of restore on a windows 7 PC - I cant remember if it reformats the partition
its quite likely the new installation has over written the area on the harddrive the file may have been stored

what email client was you using

    drive:\Windows.old\Users\UserName

you may need the AppData folder - not sure if that folder was copied to the windows.old - it will be a hidden folder - so you may need to enable that
