Can I upgrade my sony vaio laptop from a cd-rw to a dvd -rw?

    I have had my Laptop over a year and I wished I had bought a DVD burner so, can I swap my cd rw to a dvd rw?

    How much and can it be done?

    As far as connections go, yes. But the case may not have any burners that can fit it.

    Here's the problem you have to buy it from Sony. Other than that I would reccomend getting an external. Sony is going to charge you a crazy amount for the one compatible with it. External $120 retail about $75-95 if you build it.

    I tried to search for that model number on the sony site, It doesnt even come up with a match for it. So I cant tell you what would fit the case. But I am think on the same lines that you should buy an external or build one of your own. I actuall built one for under $50 after rebates for a friend. The DVD writer only cost 19.99 at staples after rebates. But that sale is over now.
